Detection methods

How each sensor measures

Sensor types differ by model. The details below describe the detection method for each indoor metric JAMES tracks where supported.

PM2.5 and PM10

Laser optical sensors detect airborne particles by measuring light scattered as air passes through a sensing chamber. Results are reported as particulate concentration, depending on model.

CO₂

NDIR (non-dispersive infrared) sensors measure carbon dioxide by how much infrared light the gas absorbs. This is the method used on CO₂-equipped models.

Temperature and humidity

Digital environmental sensors report ambient temperature and relative humidity. Accuracy and range are listed per model on each product page.

From sample to app

How readings reach your phone

Sampling, processing, and delivery follow the same four steps on every supported model.

01 Sample

Sensors take continuous readings of particulates, gases, temperature, and humidity.

02 Process

Onboard algorithms convert raw signals into air quality values and trend data.

03 Connect

Readings sync over Wi-Fi to the JAMES app for real-time viewing and history.

04 Act

Alerts and smart home triggers respond when readings cross thresholds you set.
